The Artist

Always a day late and a buck short, except for my birth where I arrived way too early. My name is Lasse and I am the creator of Curly the Cursed Con Man.

This website began right after the big bang as a portfolio site for my art and to help me get freelance gigs and other odd jobs as a Graphic Designer and 2D/3D Animator. However, over time and due to my disabilities, it has more and more become a platform for my supernatural horror/comedy webcomic Curly that I draw as a hobby.

I am a born storyteller, or that is what I tell myself at least. So even if I can not work, drawing a webcomic is my only creative outlet as of right now. It is very therapeutic and helps me keep my fine motor skills in check. Also, I always loved horror and humor, dating back to before I could even talk. I used to watch tons of Scooby-Doo on VHS tapes that relatives bought for me as a wee kid. According to my mum, the first words to truly form over my chubby lips were: “Dubby dooby!” which meant that I wanted to watch some telly and relax in my crib.

Over the years I have accidentally managed to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with a focus on Creative Computer Graphics and later a Polytechnic diploma in Graphic Design and Communications. How I managed all that is still a mystery to me. But those years partying with friends did lead to some varied work experience where I have illustrated easy-to-read short books for analphabets and mentally disabled adults, animated infographics for multinational corporations, and special effects for local television advertisements. The list goes on and can grow quite boring in the long run. Not to brag, but yeah, I have done some cool shite, but mostly tedious, mind-numbing stuff and grunt work.

Since a few years back I was deemed too ill by the Swedish Public Employment Service and the Healthcare System to work. And perhaps that is for the better since now I can focus more on my wellbeing and my family, taking care of my three wonderful kids, and try to be the best dad that I can be. I am disabled, suffering from Fibromyalgia, Parkinson-related Tremor, and some other minor chronic issues. I want to use my platform to spread awareness about these disabilities and try to help in what wee way I can. My comic is pure entertainment and will not handle the subject matter, that is why I have decided to use my About area for it instead. Because these disabilities are a part of me, whether I like it or not. Millions of people are affected or know someone who is and this is my way to shine a light on the issue. If you want to know more, you are welcome to read about it here. If you are only here for the misadventures and supernatural shenanigans of Curly, that is okay too.

Cheers //L
