Saw Evil Dead Rise lately in theaters, and unholy eldritch gods was it a treat! It has the same kind of energy and gory style as the 2013 Evil Dead, but it ties the new movies nicely into the classics—several incredible shots, especially the peephole sequence that now lives rent-free in my head. I highly recommend people to watch it. I am a longtime fan of the original classics and the tv-series, and I enjoy both the new serious tone and the old slapstick versions. However, no one can ever beat Ash Williams as the ultimate deadite slayer!
